LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Joey Chestnut, the top-ranked competitive eater globally, successfully defended his title at the third-annual Siegel’s Bagelmania World Bagel Eating Championship on Saturday. Chestnut consumed 15 bagels with cream cheese in eight minutes, matching his performance from last year.
The event, held at the iconic Siegel’s Bagelmania in Las Vegas, saw Major League Eating competitors vie to eat as many plain bagels with cream cheese as possible within the time limit.
“After last year’s incredible success, we’re leveling up for an even more exciting sequel,” said Michael Crandall, chief business officer at Siegel’s Bagelmania. “We’re thrilled to host Joey Chestnut and an all-star lineup again as they go head-to-head for a $10,000 prize purse and world glory. Join us for a spectacular event celebrating the best bagels in Las Vegas!”
The competition offered a championship title, a belt, and a share of $10,000 in prize money. Chestnut narrowly defeated Patrick Bertoletti, who ate 14 1/2 bagels. Geoffrey Esper secured third place with 13 1/8 bagels, while James Webb and Nick Wehry tied for fourth, each consuming 13 bagels.
