Joey Chestnut Defends Bagel-Eating Championship at Siegel’s Bagelmania Competition

This past weekend on Saturday, February 1, at the third-annual Siegel’s Bagelmania World Bagel Eating Championship, Joey Chestnut, the number-one-ranked competitive eater in the world, defended his championship title by again eating 15 bagels with cream cheese in eight minutes.
Major League Eating competitors returned to Siegel’s Bagelmania in Las Vegas to consume as many Siegel’s Bagelmania plain bagels with cream cheese as possible in eight minutes in a battle for the championship title and belt as well as a share of $10,000 in prize money. Chestnut matched his performance last year and edged out Patrick Bertoletti who ate 14 ½ bagels. Rounding out the top five places in the competition were Geoffrey Esper with 13 1/8 bagels and a tie for fourth between James Webb and Nick Wehry, who both consumed 13 bagels.
