Bagels were eaten, and champs were declared at the second annual Siegel’s Bagelmania World Bagel Eating Championship in Las Vegas.

The #1-ranked competitive eater, Joey Chestnut, edged out #2-ranked Competitive Eater Geoffrey Esper by half a bagel to take the championship title.

Chestnut took home a championship belt and $5,000 of the total $10,000 prize pool.

In honor of National Bagel Day and before a packed audience, eight of the top 10 Major League Eating competitors returned to the iconic Siegel’s Bagelmania in Las Vegas to consume as many Siegel’s Bagelmania plain bagels with cream cheese as possible in eight minutes.

In his first bagel-eating competition, Chestnut ultimately prevailed with 15 bagels. Esper was close behind with 14.5 bagels to take second place.

The top five eaters at the competition shared the remainder of the prize money and were:

  • Third place: #5-ranked competitive eater James Webb of Australia with 13 bagels
  • Fourth place: #4-ranked competitive eater Nick Wehry from Tampa, Fla., with 10.5 bagels
  • Fifth place: #9-ranked competitive eater Patrick Bertoletti from Chicago, Ill., with 10.25 bagels

Fan favorite Miki Sudo from Tampa, Fla., just missed the top five and came in sixth place, having eaten 10 bagels.

Siegel’s Bagelmania has been delighting fans with their quintessential New York-style bagels, bridging the gap between the East Coast and Las Vegas for over 30 mouth-watering years.
